Under the hood?

Under the hood, OpenLayers is written in object-oriented JavaScript, using components from Prototype.js and the Rico library. 今天在翻阅OpenLayers时看到“under the hood”这个短语。开始摸不着头脑，按照字面理解，hood为“头巾, 兜帽, 车蓬, 引擎罩”之意。under the hood，就是在头巾的下面，引擎罩下面，那引申意义为何？是透过现象看本质么？后来，用Kingsoft，以及google translate查阅，均没有很好的解释。
Google around, 在 Realize .NET Potential找到了相应的答案。(1) “Under the hood ”是个jargon，被用在不少技术文章的标题和内容中。例如，MSDN中的Periodicals里面，Matt Pietrek的Under the hood专栏非常棒~都是一些经典的技术和问题。(2) 孟岩为侯捷《STL源码剖析》写的引介这样说，英文里有一个常用短语，叫做”under the hood”，钻进魔术师的帐篷，屏住呼吸，瞪大眼睛，把那些奇妙的魔法看个通透，让自己的理解和技艺获得巨幅的提升，这种诱惑，任何一个程序员都无法抵挡。(3)该帖子的一个评论如是说道：hood在这里应该是帽子的意思，因为魔术师的戏法经常是在帽子底下变的，所以under the hood有点揭秘或是内幕的意思。
经过这么一解释，对under the hood才有所了解。马上考ibt了，发现自己对英文越发偏执。
